Does anyone use these? Any thoughts on the system in general as opposed to
normal filters?
(context: went yard sale shopping on Saturday to see what was out there,
and I have a new-found appreciation for how persistent Doris Fang must have
been. Probably got to about two dozen individual sales in one of those big
organised neighborhood things, and four of the communal ones that people do
in churches/halls/etc. OM content: one Trip 35, exactly nothing else..
I did hit a couple that said "photography stuff" in the listings; one
turned up a couple of camera bags, the other one had a whole lot of darkroom
stuff; so I got a new Paterson tank+2 reels for $2, an easel for $2, a
couple of 11x14 trays for $2 each, paper safe, etc.
and, back on topic, a couple of Cokin filter holders, and a stack of 7
gelatin holders in various sizes, for $10; it's got a 55mm filter ring, so
it'll go on at least some of my Zuiko lenses.
Before I put any more money into this, though, what are people's
experiences? It looks like it won't vignette even on the 17mm Vivitar
wideangle I've got, so that, at least, shouldn't be a problem -- but in
general, do these work well? Are they actually cheaper than buying screw-in
filters, given that presumably each Cokin one is the same as a very large
normal filter..
thanks,
