A place that I've found to be a decent source of silica gel is the
crafts store (used for drying flowers). I paid $11 for 10 pounds of the
stuff. You then stop at the dollar store and grab 4-5 sets of the
plastic salt and pepper sets (type with the tupper ware type lits and
sealing caps). fill 3/4 full with silica gel and top with cotton balls
and then replace cap and seal with cover. Remove cover when you put
into use. Near as I can figure, you should be able to construct a whole
bunch for less than $20.
