Although I have not always done so, I usually decide what is the most you
are prepared to pay for the item, open a second browser window and set the
bid amount with "place bid" at the ready - keep refreshing the original
browser until the auction has about 20 seconds - and then hit it.
Reboot about 20-30 minutes before auction is to end to help ensure you are
still connected and your browsers don't freeze on you.
This has worked well for me, except of course when I am unable to monitor
the auction end online.

Lee

Hi folks,
Ho hum; such is life. Slight miscalculation and for a matter of a dollar or
so I
missed out on a nice buy. Shouldn't really have cast my hat in the ring.
Go to bay item 1349066273
I put in a snipe bid that was 50 cents more than the eventual winner, but
doesn't show because it wasn't better, in the last 10 seconds, than the
winner's manual bid. And when I went to amend my snipe in the last 2
minutes as I could see what might happen; my darn machine froze %$#@
Perhaps it's just as well <G>
