In fact, nail polish remover these days all seems to be acetone-free and
contain vitamin E/keratin/other such sundry needless chemicals -- you'd
almost think people used it on their nails..
Fortunately, pure acetone is easy to come by, I just have 998.5 ml of the
stuff left over. Cleaning the magnet was easy enough once I'd got at the
insides; the first couple of test shots after leaving it to dry and
reassembly were noticeably sticky, but just shooting a few dozen more times
cleaned got the remaining bits of (presumably) acetone to dry out, and
testing again after leaving the camera to sit for a day or two shows no
problems at all.
