Yes it was a 45mm (?) GN lens (guide number lens), you set the guide number,
the lens automatically sets the f stop based on focus.

Okay, then I think I am beginning to understand....the T20 has a
guide number of twenty, according to my OM-1N manual, so I can set
the G.N. on the C*n*net and try that.....

I think the Mamiya 7 was mentioned because it has a 35mm panorama kit=20
so that you get a nominal 24x70 frame. It is very smooth, too. The=20
rangefinder/viewfinder is a little dim though. Don't know about the=20
others except the Leica M which is the standard of clarity.
I agree...the clarity in the veiwfinders of Leica M's is
wonderful....though a Minolta CL is pretty dang nice, too.

Anyone else see the review of the E20N in the new MacWorld(May).=20
They pretty much liked it, but they heartily criticized its slowness.=20
They said that it took 6 seconds to boot after turning it on and=20
routinely took 10 to 15 seconds to save the images, good as they said=20
they were.

Winsor,
No, I haven't seen the article, but I have heard this mentioned in
every review of the cameara I have read to date. Regardless of this,
though, it is a beautiful camera and I want one, regardless. Just
pick one up and play with it for a while and you'll see what I mean.
My C4040Z takes a long time to boot and to shutdown as well. But its
still a great camera.

Haha, the Leica M6 I have tried was not as bright as my 35RD and SP.

I respectfully disagree. I handled several M6's at the Photo Show
last weekend and I thought they were exemplary for brightness and
clarity. While I think the OM's are absolutely beautifully
engineered and constructed cameras (particularly the OM-1), Leicas
are just as beautifully engineered and constructed, if not more so.
I'll admit it....I want one....badly.
And while I'm committing heresy here, I may as well go all the way,
since I'll be decapitated anyway....after handling my C*n*net for a
few days now, I would say the build quality is better than that of
the RD. Moreover, I just got some prints back today that I took at
Yerba Buena Gardens yesterday using the C*n*net and the new Superia
400 and I must say the prints are beautiful. Now I just need to get
them printed in glossy format to see how nice they really are...

Re: Old Zuikos sharper than new Canon Zooms?
<snip>
Although however good our Zuiko's are, against Leica and Carl Zeiss
it is up against the best lenses in the world. Incomparable in my
opinion.
Thats my opinion, however the prize Zuiko's are up in the top 5
brands in my opinion (from what Ive seen anyway. Im starting to
think this is a daring statement!)
Damo
Damo, I would likely agree.....I say this not from using my Zuikos,
but from my experience with microscopy. If you think you can tell the
quality of lenses from photography, you really can tell from doing
light microscopy for any length of time. You can even tell from the
amount of eyestrain (or the lack of it) you get from using various
microscopes. I've did a fair amount back when I was a student at
University, and I felt then that Zeiss microscopes were the best
*I've* ever used. I had an Olympus microscope for a week while my
Zeiss phase-contrast, oil immersion 'scope was out for a service
(admittedly this was over 20 years ago). Needless to say, I couldn't
wait to get the Zeiss back, as it had noticeably superior optics. I
don't know if there is still such a difference today...haven't used
scopes in years, but back then the difference was quite noticeable.
That said, I still think Zuikos are superb lenses, especially
considering that most of them have had no new development for the
better part of 18 years.
