Or how-about the lack of sound coming from Bob Hoover's Shrike
Commander when he did his routine with both engines off. Not as
flamboyant as a Leo Loudenslager routine, but incredible
considering that it's being done in a corporate style airplane.
Bob rewrote everything we ever thought we knew about engine-out
handling in a twin-engine airplane. You'd think it was a
sailplane given the flight duration he was able to achieve.
Best pilot I'll ever have had the pleasure of meeting--a legend
for all time. 500 years from now there will be more than a
footnote devoted to his contributions to safe air-travel.
OM content: I have pictures of Bob Hoover's routine taken with
my OMs. Going back through the slides, I thought that I had set
the shutter speed too fast and it had frozen the props until
looking more closely showed that the props were feathered.
