More like the other way around -- their Canadian distributor did such an
indifferent job of promoting Olympus products (in particular, the OM line) in
Canada during the last thirty years that they effectively destroyed the market
for Olympus in Canada. Since I was a teenager back in the Seventies, Oly's
always been far more popular/available in the States than Canada. And my
friends in the retail camera business all laid the blame for this state of
affairs squarely on the Canadian distributor. (They also over-priced Oly stuff
in Canada by at least a factor of 2.) Since I've been a teen, I've acquired
Oly stuff from B&H, which has always been a better deal even prior to NAFTA or
its predecessor, the FTA.
I'd suggest just going to B&H. That's what I've always done. If Canadian
retailers don't want your business, then so much the worse for them.
