Well, when I went back today to the Bay Area photo show to swap the
little RD35 for the Canonet, I was walking around looking at stuff. I
came across a guy with some OM-1s and OM-2s on a table, and we got to
talking. I told him I was really mostly looking for lenses, and not
more OM-1s (as I have three already!). Mentioned that the only other
body I was looking for was am OM-2S or OM-4 series so that I would
have spot metering capability for shooting backlit race cars or
bikes. He then said, "Oh, I'm using one for my personal camera right
now!" and brought out an absolutely MINT OM2-S with a silvernose
50/1.4. "I really like it, so I'm sure yet if I want to sell it". I
mentioned that I had just returned a mint OM2-S (with a failing IC
presumably) with a nice 50mm lens that I paid $300 for, and had a
lead on an OM4 for a little more than that, so I said I wouldn't be
willing to offer any more than $300 for it. He then replied, "Okay!",
I wrote him a check and he handed me over his own camera! Works
perfectly, nice smooth action on the aperture ring and winder, and
this thing is incredibly clean, not even any strap marks or marks on
the bottom from tripod use. The only marks it has is some very minor
brassing at the bottom corners of the memo holder, which will be gone
once I get out the Tamiya semi-gloss black! :-)
Sorry, let me get to the point....I hooked up my new T20 flash
tonight to try to get take a picture of Eddie the Cat, and put it on
auto, and put the camera on Auto mode...when I depressed the shutter,
the shutter opened and stayed open for several seconds (like 8
seconds or thereabouts), and then finally the flash went off and the
shutter closed. I am not sure what is going on....I was taking a
photo indoors at night with some room lights, but I would not have
thought with a flash that it would take several seconds to make an
exposure in Auto mode. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but I don't
have manuals either for the flash or the OM-2S. I would have thought
that the camera would have known the flash was attached as the little
flash LED was lit up....but I was surprised at the long exposure,
with the flash at the end.
Confused here in Albany...
