I don't think the meter burn-out thing is all that big a concern... I've
used 1.5v's in a pinch before, but they give a 3 stop error in metering. I
would opt for a MR9 adaptor from John H. if I were you. As for zooms,
you'll most likely want something faster than a 28-200 to capture children.
I would suggest (if you can afford it) the 35-80/2.8, or the Zuiko
35-70/3.6.

P.S. Olympus state that you should not use a 1.5V battery in place of
the 1.35 V Mercury cell in an OM1, in case you "Burn out the meter". Are
there any recorded cases of this actually happening ? I'd be very
surprised if the meter components could not survive an 100vervoltage!
