Ever climbed into one?  They were amazing.  IIRC the design specs allowed 
for a  6'5" male with quite a bit of head room for such a short auto, plus 
the front seat slid back very nearly into the back seat.  BMW bought rights 
to the name and is bringing back the Mini Cooper (see recent Time or U.S. 
News with car article, cannot remember which it was).
