At 16:07 4/1/02, Linda Hobbs asked:
Currently, I have only an OM-10 and need to know whether a bounce grip 2
can be used on an OM-10. If so, what do I need (cords, connectors, etc.)
to use the BG2 and a T20 flash on the OM-10?
Yes.
To automatically switch the camera over to the X-Sync shutter speed and
show the "flash ready" lamp you need a "TTL Auto Shoe Cord T 0.6" to
connect the BG2 with the camera hot shoe. It's the spiral cord shown here
with the hot shoe foot at one end that has _THREE_CONTACTS_; the _FIVE_PIN_
connector on the other end plugs into the BG2:

NOTE!
Don't confuse this cord with two others:
TTL Auto Cord F0.6m
ONLY for use with the F280 flash; WON'T plug into BG2!
This cord looks identical except the foot
has five contacts and the connector has 7 pins.

TTL Auto Cord 0.6m
ONLY for use with the Quick Auto 310
and OM-2 with Shoe 2.
Cord has smaller foot and a different plug.

Without this cord you can use the PC cord built into the BG2, but you need
a "generic" hot shoe to PC adapter that can be bought at a camera store for
about $10 (no PC socket on the OM-10). Using this method, the camera won't
automatically switch over to X-Sync shutter speed when the flash is turned
on and the viewfinder "flash ready" light will not illuminate. To switch
the OM-10 into the X-Sync speed, put the mode selector into the MANUAL
ADAPTER position *without* the manual adapter plugged into the camera (if
you have one). Operation using this method is the same as using a "third
party" generic flash, instructions for which are buried at the back of the
instruction manual almost as an afterthought. [BTW, the OM-10's default
shutter speed with the mode switch in the Manual Adapter position *without*
a manual adapter plugged in is 1/60th second, a factoid buried in the
camera specs.]
Operate the T-20 Normal Auto mode as you normally would with ot in the
OM-10 hot shoe.
Secondly, what cords, connectors, etc. are needed for the BG2 if the flash
were a T32 instead of the T20?
Same cord, and same operation as with the T-20. The T-32 also has a TTL
socket on the side, so instead of plugging the Shoe Cord into the the base
of the BG2, you could optionally plug it into the TTL socket on the side of
the T-32. Otherwise, the T-32 is simply a more powerful "big brother" to
the T-20 (also has a tilting head for bounce, and the selector switch under
the calculator panel has _three_ Normal Auto aperture positions, and _two_
Manual mode positions).
If it's compatible with the OM-10, my plan is to purchase a bounce grip 2
and a T32 flash. If the bounce grip 2 is not compatible, I'll just get a
T32 flash to use directly on the OM-10 until later when I purchase a body
that accepts the BG2.
