I'm thinking about picking up a new tripod/head. I want something that's
light enough for backpacking, yet also good for portraits/group stuff, as
well as normal out 'n about photography. What i'm currently looking at is
either the Manfrotto 190 (which seems short) or 055c (which looks heavy),
with possibly a 222 joystick head (they're just so cool!).
My concern with the 222 head is that it's only rated for 2.5 kg; my 2n, with
a 35-80 or 70-210 zoom, winder 2, t-32 and a flash bracket is pretty heavy
(worst case scenario). I'd like to stick with Manfrotto because of the
interchangeable heads, and with a ball head, as they seem to be pretty quick
and easy to use, and better for portable use. Perhaps i should go with a
somewhat larger ball head (some of the lighter Manfrotto ones are rated for
up to 4 kg)?
Does anyone have any suggestions, or better yet, any experience with the
190, 055c or especially the 222?
Thanks,
Sean D.
