Do you have film in the camera and a lens attached when in Auto mode? Is
the meter needle then below "60"? The 2/2n will not fire a flash (in "X"
sync) if the actual shutter speed is faster than 1/60th second.
To check in manual, set the camera on "X" sync, shutter speed at 1/125 or
faster -- fire the shutter. The flash should not fire. Now set 1/60th or
slower -- the flash should fire.
In Auto mode, put film in the camera and attach a lens. Set the aperture so
that the needle is well above "60". Fire the camera -- the flash shouldn't
fire. Change the aperture so that the needle is well below "60" -- the
flash should fire.
