It depends on the Viv lens. Vivitar, over the last thirty years or so, has
made a number of fine lenses, along with some not-so-fine ones. Their premium
line is the Series One line, and, if the lens you're thinking of getting is a
Series One lens and is also immaculate (glass, I mean, NOT the exterior of the
lens barrel), then 40 UKP is a really good price. On the other hand, if it's
not a Series One and has some "issues" with the glass, the coatings, the
mechanics, etc., you might regret the expenditure.
