John's "tree" blossom is clearly a Fuchsia, and there are indeed scads of
ornamental varieties.
Most fuchsias are shrubs or (rarely) scramblers, and I know of only one
which reaches tree stature, the deciduous Fuchsia excorticata of NZ which
has flaking brown papery bark and which in forest reaches 7 - 10 metres (20 -
30 feet) max and a chest-height stem diameter of about 60cm - 2 ft + max.
There could be more tree fuchsia species, but not many.
