I think the lens is sharp enough, but my assessment of the shot is that
there's distinct camera shake. You can see where the camera movement
started and ended. Left to right, in the figures for sure; it's more difficult
to tell
with the background due to it being out of focus as expected.
So it could be due to shutter movement.
I wouldn't expect sharpening in an image program to do more than give the
program a migraine.
