1. Too much resistance to the camera's mechanism due to the
teleconverter.
2. Too much resistance to the camera's mechanism due to cold lubricants
in
the camera, lens and/or teleconverter.
In other words, if it happens again in warm weather, dump the
teleconverter. If it happens again in cold weather, move south.
