Welcome to the list and the world of OM!

I have a few questions about the OM-4.
What type of batteries does it use-are they the same as the OM-4T?
Same cells work in both. In the OM-4, use #357 silver-oxide watch
cells. The #357 is a slightly different specification than SR-44 or MS76
camera cells in the same identical "package" with a better voltage fall-off
curve and "short peak high demand" over its life-span. The *worst* cells
to use are alkaline or lithium as their voltage fall-off curves make them
unusable at about half-life.
Does it hav eht fast sync speeds as the OM4T?
X-Sync is the same for both: 1/60th second or slower.
OM-4T can FP sync an F280 flash unit (the only OM flash with FP sync
capability); the OM-4 cannot.
What is the big button(?) on the bottom by the bulb release?
Assuming you're asking about the bottom plate:
There's a battery cover, motor drive mechanical linkage cover, tripod
socket, some contacts that are used by a motor drive, and a small hole used
by the guide pin on a motor drive or winder.
Possibly you might be asking about a corner on the bottom of the lens
mount. There is a very, very small button (with "B Lock" printed near it)
that allows rotating the shutter speed ring into the red "60" or red "B"
positions. These two positions are entirely "mechanical" shutter speeds,
however I don't recommend using the mechanical 1/60th with flash. If there
is what appears to be a larger button next to it, it's either the PC socket
itself or the cover on the PC socket. Had to think about this one for a
while; you're likely looking at the socket cover. My OM-4 (as I suspect
with most) doesn't have the cover on it. They can get accidentally pulled
off and get lost.
Where can I get a manual for it?

On behalf of Hans and the generous individual who has provided server space
for it, please be kind and don't go whole-hog downloading all the PDF's on
the entire site. The "piggies at the trough" a while back caused such
enormous bandwidth consumption it was taken down. If you want everything
that's there, you can buy a CD of it basically "at cost."
