I also had a problem using a "Softie" on my OM4ti last week. When the
Softie was on, the spot metering button didn't work. I removed the soft
release and everything is OK. So they're not to be used on my OM4ti's from
now on.

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but there is a down side to the
soft release button.
Soft releases can cause real problems in OM bodies, mainly because the use
of one raises the profile of the release button and makes it the target of
anything that may hit the top of the camera. The shock goes down the
release shaft and (in many cases) breaks the wind latch inside the bottom
cover. The latch inside the 2/2n, especially, is very hard to get (and a
broken latch also means B will no longer work.)
It's okay to use the soft release, but best if you take it off when storing
the camera.
