FWIW, I recommend the free e-smith as a linux gateway, firewall & server.
Set it up with a borrowed monitor & keyboard & manage it from then on by
local web.

My son runs it on a 486 with 16MB, tho e-smith suggests minimum 32MB and
90Mhz Pentium. It'll probably run on a 386 with enough memory.
