I have PS 5.5 (educational) that cost me $75 new. But
I will never let go of my other free programs that I
got with various scanners. I like MGI Photosuite for
it's Smart Blur setting. You just dial in a number and
it reduces grain while preserving the sharp parts of
your photo. I never could reproduce this in PS. I
like IPhoto plus for just popping up jpg and bmp
images. It's a very basic and crummy programs but it
loads in about 2 seconds as opposed to many seconds
with PS. I like Kai Photosoap because I use it to
paint local areas of contrast, sharpness and
brightness. I know you can do this with levels in PS
but its a pain. I use Microsoft PictureIt to print
images with easy to set cropping and size. PS is just
a pain to print from and has way too many controls.

PS You don't really need PS 6 and will do great if you
buy someone's old copy of PS5 or PS5.5. It's probably
not a legal license but Adobe doesn't tell the upgrade
owner to put the old copy into the shredder or to
return it when upgrading.
