Related to this I was trying to find out about difuser
attachements for t-20s or t-32s. Are there such
things?
Thanks!
Olympus didn't make one for the T-20. They did make one for the
T-32. It's part of the neutral density filter set. Among the varying
shades of gray panels that slide into the slots on the front of the T-32,
there is a white one. It doubles as a diffuser and as a neutral density
panel that cuts down the light by a stop. As a soft diffuser it spreads
out the light to allow a 21mm lens.
There are also after-market softboxes you can use on both. Be cautious
about using a protruding (or bulging convex) softbox versus a flat panel
with the flash in "Normal Auto" mode (not a problem in TTL Auto). The
glare from the bottom of the protruding box can enter the sensor below the
flash tube resulting in under-exposure.
This applies to all flash heads when using their on-board sensors to
control flash output. Acer likely encountered this with his home made
diffuser and I encountered it with a softbox on a Metz
40MZ-3i. Fortunately I discovered it when testing the flash to determine
how much it lowered the guide number and observed near zero recharge time
in "Normal Auto." Acer wasn't so lucky.
