Hello Jim, and thanks for the welcome. The last couple of days has been a
pleasure since I was informed of this group of Olympus users, though I must
say a bit overwhelming as to the amount of traffic that is generated. I was
informed of this group by I believe a member by the name of Greg McGrath of
Biloxi, MS. I sold Mr. McGrath an Zuiko 35-80/2.8 on e-B*y - and can attest
by the few transactions that I have made in this way that it is for the most
part not a pleasant way to do business (though Mr. McGrath was/is a very
pleasant fellow to do business with). From now on when I have something of
interest to sell, I can assure you that a dedicated group of Olympus users
such as this will account for my customer base.
As for myself, I have a degree in photography from the Art Institute of Ft.
Lauderdale (1987) finishing up at Northwestern (1989). While living in Ft.
Laud. I was an intern for the Miami Herald for one year, and after
graduating from Northwestern went to work for a daily in Longview TX.
Though the writing was on the wall for me even back in school as auto focus
and computer manipulation was starting to build steam. I was further
alienated from the craft in Longview as I saw so much inferior craft and
technique overcome by computer manipulation and auto everything cameras that
I was seriously dissuaded from continuing (at the time I was using Leica M
equipment). The final blow came about when I was visiting my brother in
northern MI carrying most all of my camera equipment and portfolio/negs and
was involved in an auto wreck that resulted in fire and I lost everything.
Left photography as a profession after that, though still doing the
occasional weddings, but have been completely taken with OM equipment.
At this time I am the proud owner of two OM-4ti's with motordrives, one
OM-3ti, and a 35SP. For lenses I have (all Zuiko's) a 24mm/2.0, 28mm/2.0.
35mm/2.0, 85mm/2.0, 100mm/2.0, and a 135mm/2.8. I am in the market for a
50mm/1.2 as mine was destroyed in a flood. I have just sold my 35-80/2.8 as
I prefer primes and moving myself if possible (...not good enough/not close
enough...).
That's sums it up I suppose, at this time we are in the process of selling
our house here in NY, and moving back to MI - and putting a portfolio
together once again after a ten year hiatus.
God Bless, Paul

Welcome to the list. When time permits please tell us a little more about
yourself and what gear you have.
