You flatter me. Actually, I hardly use follow focus techniques at all.
The 350/2.8 is a marvelous lens for doing so it turns out, but in
motorsports work I seldom need to. Prefocus and timing are what I rely
on.
It does get touch and go when it's a 900hp champ car coming at you doing
150mph+ peering through that OM-4t (2-4 screen) and firing the shutter
release at exactly the right time given the narrow DOF of a 490mm f4
lens (350/2.8 + 1.4XA).
Stick and balls sports are a whole 'nuther story. I shoot little league
baseball in my son's league and know it ain't easy. This season the E-10
will be used for that (saves the league $$$ for film and processing).
