I, too, had trouble with Kodachromes on my Nikon Coolscan III (LS-30).
Weird colors and such. At first VueScan software did not help, but there is
something different about the latter versions of Vuescan (7.3+) that made a
big difference. Ed Hamrick recommends using the "image" setting for Media
Type instead of "slide". I've completely given up on Nikonscan software for
several reasons - including the incomprehensable interface.
OM content: the first 24 years of my OM color shooting is all on Kodachrome.
