You would probably be better off with a yellow neoprene type contact
adhesive (can't remember English brands - used for leather, rubber, cloth
and shoe work). Very common stuff - if it's yellow/brown and in a tube
labelled 'contact adhesive' it's probably the right stuff.

Do you mean "Evo-Stik" - seems to match your description. VERY strong
solvents used in it so is very flammable and very smelly too. Use it in a
confined space and you end up falling over. Not good for you !!
But yes, it does work for sticking back lens' grips.
