By my third wedding, I had a pretty good handle on
things and
started to settle down a little. I worked with
another
photographic company for a while and learned how to
shoot on a
"budget" and how to manage people better. We
eventually parted
ways because I was tired of doing the "Jerry Springer"
weddings
and they were upset that my shots were too good for
what the
customer was paying. I was also contract working at
the time
and was gone Monday through Friday to places all over
the world
and would be back in town just in time for a wedding
and then
would fly back out on Sunday Afternoon. I wanted to
relax with
my family for a few hours.

This peaked my interest. So you worked for a company
and they thought your pics were ,"too good" I find
that kinda difficult to understand. Could you
elaborate a little?
Also being a serious ameture (Who just paid off his 24
Shift a couplea weeks ago... woohoo!) I have only shot
a one wedding where I was a casual photographer with
no pressure. It was my cousins wedding and I had lowly
Kodak Gold 200 (I know its bad film)most shots were
taken with either a 50/1.4 silvernose at wide open in
a dark church in the second row or with a 135/3.5 with
a t-20. I shot 3 rolls of candids. Most were IMHO
quite mediocre with only 1 shot being super of my
cousin and his bride feeding the cake to each other.
The pro was an older guy who had a Nikon FE2a or
something like that and a manual focus Vivitar Series
1 19-35 with a big Metz flash.
I actually questioned him about the zoom and he said
this lens has given him results better than any other,
even other Viv series 1 19-35mm and even a Mamiya 645.
I guess its one of those lenses where everything was
done right or something.
Anyway an interesting thing turned up. Even though the
pro's formal shots were totally superior and wonderful
apparently he hadn't taken many candids at all so my
shots were welcomed by my Uncle even though most were
either very bright due to the flash, a bit out of
focus due to the rush and the fact that I had just
gotten my 24 shift with 1-10 screen and was still
getting used to focusing on an all matte screen, or
too dark due to the awful lighting conditions.
