The teleconverter has been optimized for the
recommended lenses.  You can use it with other lenses
so long as the rear element does not strike the front
of the teleconverter.  For example, I have used the
2X-A with the 75-150 f4, and the results are very
good.  The focus is not as consistent with changing
focal length - you have to refocus as you zoom, and
for infinity shots the best focus is quite a bit
before the infinity mark on the lense.  Try whatever
combination you want and see how it works.
