I agree, and I did this a few times. Ended up getting my wrist
slapped by eBay, warning me that I was trying to "influence" a bidder or
interfere with the bidding before the auction was over. eBay's rules,
which I was directed to read, are quite firm about contacting a bidder
and "warning" him/her about a potential problem. I guess you should
contact eBay directly and let them handle it. I don't entirely agree
with this, but those are eBay's rules. Repeated infractions could lead
to suspension from bidding on eBay.
Don't shoot the messenger, please, but these are eBay's policies.
