This doesn't entire take into account our obsessive, neurotic natures, but:
"The "Science" is about light. Film doesn't record subjects or objects,
it only records light and *only* light [photons within a wavelength band or
range]. Understanding light, how it behaves, including optics and how film
responds to it is The Science."
The story goes, beginners talk about equipment. Intermediate photographers
talk about compsition. True artists talk about light.
Bill Pearce, who can't keep from talking about equipment some of the time.
