They also have their purposes. I use both.
Like keeping a 50mm lens and a zoom lens that covers the same range - eh?

P.S. Keeping a couple of 6v flashlight lanterns running - the minimum
practical size - and durability - costs around $5 a month in those
giant batteries - assuming you don't leave them on.
Coleman petrol and propane lanterns with their fuel, glass globes (which my
dogs
like to knock over with a wagging tail and break), and the mantels - at
least the same.
Kerosene has so far been the least costly however, the light output falls
far short of
that which is desirable. However, it is better to light a single -
whatever - than to fall
down a cistern in the dark!
