I've always thought that motorcyclists that don't wear helmets should be
solely responsible for their head injuries, regardless whose fault an
accident might be. /jnm

We had this (serious) argument in the UK in the 70s. The upshot was
that Sikhs did not have to wear helmets when riding motorcycles, but
I don't know what the law is now.
However, one of our student pilots is a Sikh, and we would not let
him fly without a helmet... so he changes his turban for a scarf
affair when he goes flying. Likewise, girls with a lot of hair have
to bind it somehow before donning a helmet. In fact the Sikh looks
like a pirate with his black scarf over his long hair ;-).
