I picked one up recently, but don't have any pics back from it yet. And,
of course, you need a lot of pics to get a good idea of how such a long
ratio (7:1) zoom performs at different focal lengths in sharpness,
contrast, flare etc. I also don't have the bayonet lens hood, but it
will only be of use for the widest focal lengths anyway.
Things I do know:
Model 71A aspherical zoom 28-200mm f3.8-5.6. I think there may be
another similar model.
2-touch design with the focus out front like AF lenses
No macro or even close focus capability; close focus is 2.1m/7ft.
Compared to my regular 'one lens solution' Tokina AT_X 35-200mm,
f3.5-4.5 (and the similar Tamron SP):
Tokina Tamron SP
35-200 35-210 28-200
f3.5-4.5 f3.5-4.2 f3.8-5.6
Length Min 128mm 130mm 85mm
Max 164mm 185mm 142mm
Diameter 70mm 74mm 78mm
Weight 680g 870g 520g
Filter size 67mm 67mm 72mm
Close focus 2.1m 1.6m 2.1m
Max. Macro 1:3.8 1:4 na
As you can see, in return for wider fl and smaller size/weight, you give
up a half-stop at the long end and close-focus/semi-macro capability. It
is significantly less imposing looking on the camera at minimum length.
Seems the lack of close focus ability is a real minus for me as other
lenses keep going out the door with me.

Anybody have this lens? If so, how is it in terms of size and performance?
I am looking for a lens that is a great "travel" lens, something I can take
without changing lenses..
Thanks.
