I found that this somehow is often a bigger issue to them than people taking
pictures. In several places in Rome (like the Pantheon, I believe) as well
as in Spain, the people would let me take pictures, but they wouldn't allow
me to use a tripod. I've always wondered why this is. Perhaps they are
afraid the tripod somehow damages the floor or is a hinderance to other
people ?!?
