Hi OM'ers,
George S. recently wondered if prices on OM equipment were
softening. I recently bid on two macro lenses on eBay, the 80mm f4
(automatic version) and the 135mm f4.5. Both were being sold with the
65-116 telescopic autotube as part of the deal. The 80mm with tube went
for $350, the 135mm went to $305 but didn't reach the reserve. Assuming
the autotube is worth--what? $100? $125?--these two lenses were being
high-bid at @ $180-$250, or fairly well below the mean (about $305) of
Skip Williams's data set.
Okay, the pictures of the 135mm lens were inadequate. But aren't
these two fairly sought-after lenses? Am I missing something? Maybe no
one thinks of taking photos of insects in the dead of winter?
