Seriously though, my computer showed me the Euro mark (¤) well
enough, so I wonder what translating is going on ...

Interesting - in Doro's original message it showed correctly here, but
in your quote it has changed into a question mark. Must be your Mac
converting it into something compatible for outbound mail. Now if we
could just figure out what it's compatible with ... ;-)
