sorry for the off topic, but i really have gotten to the point of needed
advice...
i use opera (the browser, v6.0) to browse the internet. those familiar with it
will also know it has a built in
email client, which i also use to manage my email (operamail.com, part of
opera's services if you chose so,
but NOT part of the browser program). To my knowledge, I recall reading the
mail client is based on
Pegasus. the files are .mbs and .mbx extension (one each, inbox.mb*, trash.mb*
and so on). Browser
downloads my mails to local hard drive, deleting them off server.
I also run Norton AV 2001 (updated weekly)
Problem is, NAV doesn't recognize the built-in email thing. w/ Eudora, which my
bro uses, and Messenger
(family use), NAV knows those are email progs and will scan each mail
individually upon download. Not so
w/ Opera. That's where the problem comes in.
Things were fine till a couple months ago, when the large mail volume (various
mail lists) meant virus coming
in here and there. Now, NAV will pop up and tell me my inbox is infected, tries
to fix it, can't, and
quarantines the file (inbox.mbs). there is the problem: it doesnt scan
individual mails, it quarantines the
ENTIRE inbox because of one infected mail.. I lose ALL mails downloaded in that
sessions.
I've been hit and wiped out at least a dozen times in the last month, and I've
finally had it. What's a good
shareware/freeware/adware application I can use? Messenger I dont like, eudora
i dont like, outlook i dont
like. I am thinking of pegasus, but will i be able to transfer all the files i
have to that program? there are 1000
+ saved msgs in a seperate folder, and 31k+ in the trash (i keep for archive
reasons, i can always search it
for OM stuff).
Suggestions, comments, whatever, but OFFLIST please. waltherppk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

thanks, sorry again for the OT post.
