I have the Vivitar Series 1 19-35mm. I've taken some perfectly nice pics with
it on 4x6 prints. None of those pics particularly moved me (subject,
composition, etc.), so I haven't taken a closer look. I did get some flare from
sun just outside the picture on one shot, but blame myself for not having the
hood with me. The plastic hood that comes with it is big and looks easily
breakable, so I'm sort of afraid of just dropping it in the bag... It's light
and relatively small, but takes 77mm filters, even bigger than the 18/3.5 with
'hood'!

My Zuikos (18/3.5, 21/2.5, 24/2.8, 28/2.0) are just soo cute and small and take
such great images, that I would only take the Vivitar as insurance where I
didn't expect any WA shots.

You know, the Zuiko 28/f2.8 and 24/2.8 are both available reasonably if you are
patient.

So, how about some
recommendations from the low cost side which includes:

Samyang 18-28mm f/4-4.5 (don't know who sells it)
Phoenix 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5 (and I assume the Vivitar Series 1 19-35mm is
this same lens) (B&H $139.95 and $149.95)
Vivitar 19mm f/3.8 (B&H $104.95)
