"Yesterday I got my tools out and removed the top ,plate from my OM-1(first
one I owned, I bought it in 75' but it was manf. in 73). The intention was to
swop the damaged ASA dial for a good one(thanks for the help on this BTW.)
What I found under there was a pile of "liquid" which in an earlier life used
to be foam."
I sent my 1978 vintage OM1 to Colchester Cameras about 18 months ago with the
same specific instructions. When I asked them if they had replaced this foam
they told me "The latet OM1's didn't have the prism foam".
Without taking the top off myself I have no way of checking if this is true or
not. Anyone got any comments?
This time last year I got the visiting repairer at London Camera Exchange in
Worcester to service my mid '80's OM2n. At least I could talk to the chap
personally.
