I use;
1 - Black velvet fabric from the fabric store.
2 - Tan or grey background paper.
3 - Nothing.  
Force yourself to do enviromental sets
like the living room or garden.

White paper or bed sheets are great but be sure 
to over light the background if you want it to look white.
