Brian,
Sorry Brian, but you are mistaken. The shutter is electronically
controlled in the XA and the camera will not work without batteries. That
being said, the thing runs forever on a set, and can be carried in a
pocket, keeping it warm. I have never had battery problems with the XA,
and rarely have to change them. It is more like a miniature RF equivalent
of the OM-2, being an aperture priority AE camera.
The Rollei 35-S uses a mechanical shutter. Most of the other miniature
cameras that I am familiar with have electronic shutters.
