Dave,
I own them both, and to my eye, they are both excellent lenses. I use the
50-250 more, because it is just easier -- a handheld lens. The 85-250 almost
requires a monopod or tripod, as it is just bigger.
It's a win-win choice!
The only problem with the 50-250 is that it is expensive, but there have
been quite a number on the market recently and the price has come down a
little -- but still is over $500.
Tom
Has anyone compared the 85-250 to the 50-250? I was wondering about picture
quality with both. I've always wanted the 85-250 since I'm partial to a two
touch zoom, but the extra range of the 50-250 in a smaller package makes me
think twice.
Also, does anyone know why the angle of view in the 85-250 is 10 degrees vs.
12 degrees in the 50-250. (According to the ESIF, Both at 250 of course.)
Thanks
Dave Shupe
