I don't know how many people remember consumer reports
first review of the OM-1 (in the 70's). They didn't like it. Claimed
it was too small to use. Two or three years later when canon, nikon,
pentax had started making smaller cameras, consumer reports
gave a positive review of the OM cameras.
Probably something has to give to get a smaller digital camera.
The lens of a 3040 is much bigger than the D40. To my thinking
I wouldn't hesitate to give up some "quality" to have a tiny camera.
I suspect I'll probably have more than one or even two cameras for
awhile. The Kyocera S3 was one of the smallest I'd seen and
I've been considering getting one. I hadn't seen the Pentax 430 nor
330. I'm glad you brought my attention to it. At different times there
are different priorities ...
