Buy an inexpensive flip flash bracket for your Sunpak. There are several on the
market that are about $3s0 or less. Check out Hunt Photo...they have a few
inexpensive ones. That will put the flash about 10" above the axis of the lens.
Use the flash on Manual...do all of your shots at set distances...i.e. 6ft,
12ft, 18ft(approx) and 30ft (also approx). The flash will do fine and cover
everything nicely. Shoot everything at f5.6 and don't worry about changing
aperture...change flash power. Use a 50mm lens...don't confuse yourself.
There are no secrets to this photography in spite of what that site says. Don't
fool around with any of the flash diffusers you mentioned. They are so small
and close to the flash that they do not change the light appreciably or soften
it significantly so that you would be able to see the difference. Use some
black netting over the lens if you want diffusion...forget the soft focus
filters unless you can spring for some very expensive ones. The other's are not
all that good. Unless you are using the strobes on manual, don't try to use two
lights. Pros use two or three, they know how to control them and expose
properly.
If you really want soft light, shoot the B&G in open shade...that's the best
soft light there is. Also, bare bulb works equally well.
Visit some of the professional wedding sites. The most important thing is
posing...pushing the camera button is easy. Good luck on the wedding.
