This happened to my first Oly digital and the mechanism had failed.
Unfortunately it was one month past the warranty and it cost me $125 to have
it fixed. /jnm

Hi,
This is my first posting to the list.
I have an IS-1 that has served me well for several years, while on holiday
in
the UK the lens suddly would not zoom. When the camera is first turned on
the
lens comes out as normal, only slightly less extended. Zooming out does
nothing. If I pull slightly on the lens while zooming the lens clicks once
and extends to the normal rest position and then the zoom works fine until
it
is turned off. Sometimes this fix seems to last for months, sometimes it
only
works once and I have to repeat the process each time I turn the camera on.
Any ideas? I am guessing perhaps a gear related problem in the zoom,
possibly
due to vibration something has come loose. I am sure it is mechanical rather
than electrical.
Thanks,
Nigel
