Hi Brian,
I've got the 2720S. It hasn't got Digital Ice. The model with Digital Ice is
the 2740S, which, if memory serves, costs a significant fraction more than
the 2720S and is no higher resolution. The 2720S is an OK scanner, for my
purposes. I wouldn't try doing 11x14s on it, but it does a pretty fair job
at 8x10s.
The price differential to get 4000dpi resolution vs the 2700dpi of the
Scanwit was just a bit too large for me to swallow at the time I purchased
mine. Roughly double. I believe I paid about $220US for the 2720S via
Ubid.com, most any 4000dpi scanner would have cost me around $500US and I'd
much rather have the additional money for Zuikos. :-) If I need the
additional resolution I can always have my negative printed using
traditional enlargement techniques.
