Hey guys,
Just thought I'd send this shot along. I was walking through a meadow
between two ponds in the seney national wildlife preserve, photographing
birds. (In particular the Common Loon, Great Blue Heron, Sandhill Crane
and also hoping to get a shot at the eagle rumored to live in the area)
when right before my eyes, a huge striped dragonfly snatched a smaller
dragonfly out of the air and proceeded to munch on its head. Now, I was
set up for birds, with my OM2n and a porterhouse 500mm mirror lens that my
dad picked up off ebay. As I darted for my camera bag, taking the lens off
hoping to get the shot before this monster decided to carry off its prey, I
noticed that this mirror lens has macro focus capabilities. I moved back
and snapped this shot hand held from about 3 feet away...and to tell you
all the truth...this pic looked great on the ektachrome 400...even if the
scan done down the street wasnt much good.. Well, here it is...

This lens works better as a macro lens than it does as a telephoto...heheheheh
