I find a 180 grit grinding wheel does a much faster job. Wet or dry will
work, although if you grind dry you run the risk of cracking the glass....

Yep - you guys couldn't fool me - I only use Brillo pads on my lenses -
and only on the glass! Now, can anyone tell me how to remove those
scratches from the optics? How about a real good polishing with pumice
stone?
