Note my previous comments re Fedex - if you use a tracked carrier and the
value of the item is over, say US$100 (varies from country to country) then
it will arrive with a large customs and brokerage fee in a country like
Sweden that has a GST/VAT style tax. The recipient may be happy with this
if they are in a hurry but they should be forewarned.
On the other hand, post office parcels take a fair time, especially at this
time of year, but are not hit with tax in most countries and certainly not
with hefty brokerage fees. They can be insured too. 4-6 week sounds like
surface mail - air parcel is usually not much more and is faster. Economy
air (part air, part surface) is another option. Surface can actually take
up to 3 months - air parcel very rarely takes more than three weeks.
