I too am of Volvo/Olympus-now SUV crowd. I used my $1000 1978 Volvo 240
wagon as a "lens case" for my $3200 Zuiko 350/2.8-talk about priorites I had
: ) When I got rear-ended by a huge truck hauling a horsetrailer (complete
with 3 horses ofcourse) and all was safe, I knew I had the ultimate
Halliburton!

I think it has "something" (is it a gene expressing itself?) to do with
quest for design excelling in both form and function in a somewhat
understated way (compact, not flashy, etc.). Maybe some other tools we have
all ended up picking too.
